Teutopolis village board members have approved an agreement with Brumleve Properties allocating Tax Increment Financing dollars for a construction project.

The agreement allocates $226,319 in TIF funds for Brumleve Properties, which operates Designs Unlimited. The plan is to relocate Designs Unlimited from its current downtown location to a spot in Wooden Shoe Development on the west edge of the village off Route 40.

Village board members also passed an ordinance concerning reimbursement for the cost of hiring and training applicants for a police officer position in the village. The agreement, which is still being finalized, would include a provision that an officer would work for the village for a certain length of time, or would have to reimburse the Village for some of those training costs.

The Board also agreed to hire four or five summer maintenance workers, mostly high schoolers, and reviewed a solar energy ordinance but took no action on the measure.
