Motorcycle Rider Injured in Crash West of Effingham

A motorcycle rider was injured in a crash west of Effingham Sunday evening.

The crash happened at 6:20pm on US Route 40 at County Road 1075 in the S curves.

State police report a cycle operated by 43-year-old Richard Newlin of Edgewood ran off the highway to the left and crashed into a ditch. Newlin was taken for treatment of what were termed non-life threatening injuries.

Newlin was cited for DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, improper lane usage, failure to secure registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper use of registration or title, and a driver's license classification violation.
