A 44-year-old Salem man has been arrested on a drug charge and Effingham County felony warrant by Salem Police in what started out as an investigation into an abandoned vehicle on the Nature Trail at Salem.

Police report during the investigation Andrew Norman returned to the area and said the vehicle belonged to him. After running his name, police learned he was wanted on an Effingham County failure to appear warrant. While taking him into custody, they allegedly found Norman in possession of suspected fentanyl capsules. Some additional capsules were located in the car.

Norman was taken to the Marion County Jail for possession of a controlled substance and on the outstanding Effingham County warrant on a pending possession of methamphetamine charge. Bond on the warrant is set at $7,500.
