(EFFINGHAM FIREFIGHTERS SURVEY THE DAMAGE ONCE THE FIRE WAS OUT)

A residential garage in Effingham suffered damage Wednesday afternoon. The fire was caused by an outdoor grill that ignited some items inside the garage.

The call came about 3pm at 800 North Henrietta, a garage next door to a house owned by the Hoelscher family. A member of a family renting the property was using the grill when the fire occurred. The fire got into the ceiling of the garage causing some damage.

The fire was out by about 3:15pm. The nearby house was not damaged.

Effingham Police Department assisted Effingham firefighters at the scene.

There were no injuries.
