Local Man Arrested on Felony Aggravated Battery Charges After Friday Altercation

An Effingham man was arrested Friday night on two counts of felony aggravated battery.

Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland said 60-year-old Kevin Malone was taken into custody after a fight was broken up outside a local establishment at 10:40pm. McFarland said officers observed two male subjects involved in a physically active fight. Police separated the two and during their investigation determined that Malone had allegedly battered two victims, including the other person involved in the altercation. One of those individuals sought medical attention.

Malone has posted $5,000 bond and been released.
