Ruholl Officially Announces Candidacy for County Treasurer

Deb Ruholl has announced her candidacy as a Republican candidate for Effingham County Treasurer.

“I am running for the County Treasurer to serve the citizens of Effingham County,” said Ruholl. “I am dedicated to Effingham County and believe that my diverse experience and knowledge makes me a highly qualified candidate for the County Treasurer.”

Ruholl began her employment with the County in 2014 in the County Clerk’s Office. During this period, she became experienced and knowledgeable of the current financial software. In 2018, she was given the opportunity to advance to her current position as the County Board Office Administrator, which gave her the opportunity to learn and participate in the County operations, financials and budgets. Ruholl stated, “In both positions, I have worked with the County Treasurer regarding troubleshooting issues, solutions to such issues and assisting in the preparation of the County’s budget.”

Prior to Ruholl’s positions at the County, she was a paralegal for a local law firm for 20 years. “My experience at the law firm taught me confidentiality and legal aspects that would assist me as the County Treasurer. The experiences gained at both places of employment have afforded me with the diverse training and knowledge needed to succeed as the Effingham County Treasurer,” said Ruholl.

Ruholl is a resident of Effingham County. She grew up and continues to live in the Bishop Creek area. She is a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Dieterich. Ruholl attended Teutopolis Unit 50 and Lakeland College. She is married to Linus Ruholl and has 4 grown children and 2 grandchildren.

Ruholl added, “If elected as the new County Treasurer I promise to continue running the office as smoothly and efficiently as the office currently operates. I will work closely with the Supervisor of Assessments and County Clerk’s office during the real estate tax cycle. Thereafter, collecting and disbursing the real estate taxes in a timely manner. I respectfully ask for your support in my journey to be elected to this office. I look forward to the challenge and opportunity of serving you.”
