Rick Meador 2020

Sentencing hearings have been scheduled for former Effingham resident Rick Meador and an accomplice in the shooting death of Kyle Johnson in Olney in 2020.

The 20-year-old Meador pleaded guilty last September for the shooting, while 35-year-old Tara Haws of Olney was found guilty earlier this month for her role in Johnson's murder. Both Meador and Haws are to be sentenced on May 5.

Another co-defendant, 33-year-old Dale Boatman, Jr. of Olney pled guilty last October for his role in the death and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. A fourth co-defendant, the 17-year-old who is believed to be the girl who fled with Meador to Florida following the shooting, is still awaiting trial.
