For the first time in over a week, temps Wednesday will finally climb above 70, but strong winds, potentially heavy rainfall, and the threat of severe weather, are all in the cards.

Followed of course, by a return to nice, sunny cooler weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from 9 am to 9 pm Wednesday for much of the state. Areas along and east of Interstate 57 may see wind gusts exceeding 50 mph. Strong winds from the south will make travel difficult, especially on east-west routes.

You're advised to tie down loose objects like trampolines and empty containers.

In addition, areas of heavy rainfall are expected, with 1 inch to 1.5 inches expected for most of the state. This may result in some flash flooding in low-lying areas.

0330 WX1

The threat of severe weather also exists for the afternoon hours Wednesday, which includes all of the Effingham area and surrounding counties. Large hail, wind gusts as high as 70 mph, and tornadoes are possible.
