Busy Monday Night for Teutopolis Unit 50 Board of Education

On Monday night the Teutopolis Unit 50 Board of Education held a public hearing on the proposed reclassification of an administrative employee was held at the request of Mr. Greg Beck. 

Following the hearing the Teutopolis Unit 50 Board of Education began their regular meeting where the Board adopted a resolution to reclassify Mr. Greg Beck from principal to teacher at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 school year. 

The Board heard from Jaden Deters and Ellie Bloemer regarding end of year dates for seniors and Melissa Orndorff regarding High School graduation date. The Board set the following dates for end-of-year activities: Senior Honors Night for Wednesday, May 11 at 7:00 pm; High School Graduation for Sunday, May 15, at 2:30 pm; Jr High Promotion on May 20 at 7:30 pm at THS Gym. Also approved was the senior trip to Indianapolis and the high school Student Council trip to Springfield. 

The Board approved a contract renewal with Glass & Shuffett for auditing fiscal year 2022 and approved an enrollment request per the ISBE employee non-resident waiver for 2022-23. They approved a proposal from Upchurch Architects for the TGS roof replacement and the annual SEPCO Cooperative Agreement for food purchases for 2022-23. 

The Board approved the academic calendar for 2022-23 as presented as well as the 2022-23 holiday calendar for 12-month employees. The Board also approved to renew membership in the IHSA & IESA for the 2022-23 school year. 

In personnel moves the Board approved resignations from: Jordan Pals as JH Assistant Baseball Coach, Christina Brown as TGS Music Teacher, Barb Weber as TGS Secretary, and Amy Thoele as TGS Paraprofessional. The Board approved a retirement request from Teressa Jansen effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year. 

The Board hired the following contingent upon their successfully meeting all employment requirements: Autumn Koester and Danaille Huffman as 7.5-hour Paraprofessional for the 2022-23 academic year; Amy Thoele as a 7.5-hour/3-day per week TGS Secretary for the remainder of the 2021-22 academic term; Nicole Vineyard as TJHS Language Arts Teacher for the 2022-23 academic year; Katherine Mette as THS Math Teacher for the 2022-23 academic year;  and Jim Deitz as THS Volleyball Coach for the 2022-23 academic year. 

The Board also hired THS students as Diversified Occupation Student Workers for the 2022-23 academic year contingent upon their successfully meeting all employment requirements. 

The Board hired the following Summer Workers for 2022; Cheryl McLeod and Rachel Habing as full-time Custodians. Amber Rose and Tess Borries as part-time Custodians. Melinda Bloemer as a full-time Transportation Dept Custodian. Josh Cottrill as a full-time Maintenance Employee and Tess Borries as a part-time Technology Employee. 

Chet Reeder and Craig Toler were hired as Driver’s Ed Classroom Teachers not to exceed a combined 32 hours and as Driver’s Ed Behind the Wheel Instructor not to exceed a combined 120 hours. Angie Hotze as a Library Aide at TGS for 32 hours, Crystal Tipton as a Library Aide at THS for 20 hours, and Amy Nice as a Substitute Library Aide. 

The Board approved compensation rates for 12-month non-union employees and Jr. High School Athletic Official Compensation Charts as presented.
