Water Authority Leases Lot, Discusses Water Usage Agreement

Effingham Water Authority trustees met wtih local resident Van Brooks at this month's meeting to discuss possible changes to the water usage agreement. The changes concern rules regarding buildings, trees and commercial business on their property. Trustee Jim Boos and Brooks will meet to finalize a draft.

An updated appraisal was received concerning Lot 30 in Northwood Hills and a bid on the lot received in January is within the acceptable range. It was voted to approve the bid of $15,000 from Aaron and Barbara Quick. The Water Authority will proceed in preparing a lease for the property.

Water Authority Attorney Tony Siemer reported that the fiber optic cable installer at the lake does not have an agreement with the Water Authority. Lake Superintendent Mike Dirks said that the installer crew has only come on Water Authority property in a couple of places so far. Siemer plans to contact the company.
