Four area residents headed on a golf trip were injured in the major crash on I-57 in Missouri Thursday morning.

Dozens of vehicles were involved in the collision, and six people are now confirmed dead.

The four area residents injured are Doug Mammoser, his brothers Pat and Steve Mammoser, and their brother-in-law, Mike Gibson of Effingham.

Another brother-in-law, Mike Wilson of Effingham, shared that the four were traveling in foggy conditions and came upon a semi stopped in traffic. Their vehicle struck the semi, then a following vehicle struck them from behind.

All four occupants of the vehicle suffered significant injuries, although Doug Mammoser was able to help the other three out of their vehicle. The four were still being treated as of Friday morning.

Missouri authorities say that I-57 and I-55 in the area of the crash have now reopened.
