Two semis collided on I-70 near the Brownstown/Bluff City interchange Tuesday morning, sending one of the drivers for treatment.

State police report the crash occurred at 7:38am in the eastbound lanes. A rig driven by 52-year-old Vera Stovall of Charlotte, North Carolina pulled off onto the roadway shoulder. A following semi driven by 57-year-old Brian Hamilton of Marion, Indiana failed to reduce speed, ran off the roadway to the right, and struck the driver's side of Stovall's rig. Hamilton's semi then crossed both eastbound lanes and ran off the roadway to the left. Hamilton's rig came to rest partially in the median and partially in the left lane.

Stovall was taken from the scene for treatment of minor injuries.

Hamilton was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

The right lane of eastbound I-70 at the crash scene was covered with debris and remained closed for much of the morning.
