Altamont school board members Monday voted to post a vacancy for an athletic director and assistant principal's position.

Altamont had been working with one person in that position for both the grade school and high school buildings, but decided Monday that a person is needed for that post in each building. Kris Biggs has been serving in both buildings since Peggy Bueker's promotion to high school principal in January following Jerry Tkachuk's retirement as principal.

The Board also approved contract renewals for 12-month contracted staff, including Bueker, Biggs, Kathy Clausius, Ross Cornett, Lori Grimsley, Alan Whitt and Doug Hill.

Also Monday, the Altamont board:

--approved an early graduation request

--accepted a resignation letter from Kara LaMar and employed Jordan Leihser as head soccer coach for next school year

--renew contracts with Glass and Shuffett for audit work and with Bushue Human Resources for HR services

--purchased driver's education books and physical science and chemistry books, and approved a course change name from Discrete Math to Finite Math

--approved a proposal for the superintendent and the bookkeeper to attend a grant writing conference in St. Louis

--changed the April board meeting date for April 19

--approved labor costs for a baseball concrete project

--agreed to seek bids on two school buses

--agreed to return self-funded sports to district-funded sports
