Dieterich school board members Monday approved plans and agreed to seek bids for a building project.

The work will provide both the junior/senior high school building and the elementary building with more secure entryways, including covered walkways. There will be some office reconfiguration and remodeling in the project, as well.

The project will be funded with Federal dollars.

The Board also held a hearing on the sale of $3,000,000 in working cash fund bonds to increase the district's working cash fund, and $5,625,000 in funding bonds. There were no comments from the public on the bond sale.

The district is issuing the bonds to cover the cost of construction of additional classrooms and restrooms. The Board is considering a couple of locations on the campus to serve as the site of the project.

Dieterich board members also amended the school year calendar to reflect use of an emergency day on February 24. The last day of student attendance is now May 20, with a teacher institute on May 23. The Board also approved the calendar for the coming school year. The first day of student attendance will be August 16 with a teacher institute on August 15.

The Board approved a revised Return to School Plan to account for recent changes in COVID-19 requirements for public schools; approved a leave of absence for Jodi Mammoser in May; approved Alli Schmidt as a volunteer dance and cheer coach for the coming school year; and accepted the resignation of Pam Adams as custodian.
