There were two more legislative candidate filings in Springfield for districts in our area.

State Representative Blaine Wilhour of Beecher City has filed for another term, this time for the 110th District, as that will include his residence beginning in 2023. Wilhour currently serves as 107th District State Representative, but redistricting will change the boundaries.

Also filing was Republican State Senator Steve McClure of Springfield. McClure is running in the 54th Senate District, which is being shifted east and north in the redistricting. He currently serves as 50th District State Senator, which includes a portion of Springfield and counties to the west.

The only filings for Effingham County contests involved precinct committeepersons.

The filing deadline is Monday, March 14 at 5pm. The Illinois primary election will be held in June, and the general election in November.
