Spring Soccer Numbers are Big at Park District

Effingham Park Board members are thrilled about enrollment for the district's spring soccer program.

Park District Director Jeff Althoff told the Board this week that enrollment is way up; they have 320 kids signed up to participate this year.

Althoff said that numbers are good for baseball and softball; he said there are still kids signing up even though the March 1st deadline has passed.

Althoff also reported that the membership has increased at the Workman Sports and Wellness Complex in each of the past three months.

It was also shared this week that work to replace fencing around one of the softball diamonds at Hendelmeyer Park has begun. Althoff is hopeful that the work will be completed within the next four weeks.
