The woman who gave Bruce Rauner a run for his money in the Republican gubernatorial primary in 2018 has endorsed Darren Bailey for the 2022 nomination.

Former St. Rep. Jeanne Ives served three terms in the Illinois House before running against Rauner, who won the nomination for a second term, but then lost to J.B. Pritzker in the general election.

Ives called Bailey the only conservative reformer in the race with a record to stand on. She said she is endorsing Bailey because he stood on principle whem no one else would.

Ives also called Bailey a business owner with a family who is here to stay and commended him for standing up to Pritzker's mask mandates.
