Work is underway toward adding sewer service to the Lake Sara area.

Effingham Water Authority Chairman Rob Brown told trustees this month that Milano and Grunloh Engineers approached the Water Authority regarding applying for grants for Lake Sara Water Cooperative regarding the sewer work. The plan is to seek two grants, one for a feasibility study and one for the sewer installation.

Milano and Grunloh approached the Water Authority because a municipality has to apply for the grants, and Lake Sara Water Cooperative is not considered a municipality.

Trustees voted to proceed with applying for the grant funds.

Also, Water Authority trustees heard about the audit of the past fiscal year; heard that Classic Appraisals had not submitted an updated appraisal on Lot 30 in Northwood Hills; and heard from Van Brooks regarding water access and will proceed with preparing a water usage agreement for Brooks to review.

The Board also learned that as part of an agreement with Boat Dockers, two lots are being sold as residential property with the Water Authority receiving 30% of the net sale proceeds. Boat Dockers will be contacting Milano and Grunloh regarding splitting the property prior to the sale.

Also at the meeting, Brian Larson addressed the Board regarding his sale of Red Fox Marina and thanked the Board for their support. He also introduced Jason Gines, who will be the new owner of the marina. Gines also addressed the Board and said he looks forward to working with them.

Jane Montello reported on activities of the Good Neighbors of Lake Sara and said the organization plans to meet at Pinkie's before opening day, probably on May 1.

Montello also complimented Lake Superintendent Mike Dirks and his crews for road maintenance work during the last ice and snow storm.
