Car Collides w/Flora Squad Car

A car collided with a Flora City Police squad car Tuesday night.

The crash happened at 7:45pm on US Route 50 at North Olive Road in Flora. 

Illinois State Police report that a car driven by 20-year-old Steven Durr of Mendenhall, Mississippi was traveling north on Olive Road. The squad car, operated by a 28-year-old officer from the Flora department, was eastbound on Route 50. Police say Durr failed to stop at the stop sign and headed north through the intersection. The front end of the car struck the front middle passenger side of the squad car. 

Durr and his passenger, 20-year-old Anthony McGill of Mendenhall, Mississippi, were transported to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. The officer, whose named has not been released, drove to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

Durr was cited for disobeying a stop sign, failure to yield, and operating a vehicle with no proof of insurance.
