Dieterich school board members are moving ahead with plans for expansion.

The Board heard at this week's meeting from Tim King of King Financial regarding bonds for a possible expansion, which the Board is pursuing to meet the needs of a growing enrollment.

A special meeting is planned for Tuesday, February 22 to finalize funding options.

Dieterich board members also designated Superintendent Cary Jackson to begin work on a tentative budget for next school year; amended the school calendar to reflect the use of three emergency days on February 2-4; set a tentative date for Dieterich High School graduation on Saturday, May 14 at 2pm; approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Regional Office of Education to allow the district to enroll students in alternative education programs; and reviewed the District's financial profile from the Illniois State Board of Education with the profile a perfect 4.0.

The Board reviewed the Return to School Plan and current COVID-19 mitigations. Since the district is currently adhering to a temporary restraining order, no changes were recommended.

The Dieterich board also renewed the one-year contracts of building principals Scott Kocher and Josh Benefiel for next school year, hired Kirstin Liddiard as special education teacher for next school year and hired Valerie Sanguinetti as junior high scholar bowl coach, and approved maternity leaves for district music instructor Leia Meredith for the end of this school year and for elementary aide Sara Deters for the beginning of next school year.
