Major Winter Storm on the Way

A major winter storm is expected to hit the Effingham area and all of central Illinois mid-week.

The official Winter Storm Watch is effective from noon Wednesday to midnight Thursday night.

Significant ice accumulation is expected to fall Tuesday night into Wednesday, creating very hazardous travel conditions.

After the ice, the National Weather Service indicates we could see 4-8" of snow. Our area remains in the greatest area of uncertainty, with some models showing significantly more snow, and others showing less than an inch.
