The Effingham County Health Department Tuesday announced three COVID-related deaths. Two of those individuals were in their 60s and the other in their 70s. All three were unvaccinated. These deaths bring the number of confirmed COVID-related deaths in the county to 119.

The Health Department also announced 112 new cases of COVID were reported from Friday through Sunday. We asked for the Health Department to break down how many positive cases were vaccinated and how many were unvaccinated. Of the 112 new cases, 13% were up-to-date with their vaccinations. 70.5% were completely unvaccinated. 18% were not up-to-date with their vaccinations. 12.5% of the cases were re-infections.

58 of those new cases were found in people under age 40.

Effingham County's seven-day rolling positivity rate was at 20.76%.
