Teutopoils village board members Wednesday agreed to update the covenants for Prairie View Estates subdivision. Changes in the covenants have been discussed for months by both the village board and their architecture committee.

The Board decided to contact Village Attorney Tracy Willenborg to prepare the proposed updates, then put the question to the lot owners. At least 70% of the lot owners in Prairie View Estates have to sign up for the changes to take effect. That would be 42 lot owners. The village still owns 24 of those lots. The Board also released any claim on a lot in Prairie View Estates owned by David and Joyce Toombs.

Board members agreed to join the Effingham Regional Growth Alliance for 2022 for a $5,000 contribution.

Following a closed session, the board agreed to form a committee including Village Board President Dave Repking, Village Police Chief Jeff Bushue, and two other Board members to interview candidates for a job on the village police force. It's not clear yet as to whether this will be a part-time or full-time position.
