Effingham Water Authority trustees were presented with a proposal to rezone some commercial properties at Lake Sara for use for residential development.

Noah Brandenburger presented trustees with statistics including Lakeside Marina transactions for the 2021 season, boat sticker sales, and lake comparisons regarding the number of marinas.

The trustees had the opportunity to ask questions about the proposal, and also give their opinions. Trustee Chairman Rob Brown did not allow for open discussion, but asked those of the public interested in the issue to put their feedback in letter form.

There was no action by the Board on the request.

The Board reviewed a $15,000 bid from Barb and Aaron Quick for Lot 30 in Northwood Hills. The bid is lower than what is usually accepted based on an appraisal of the lot, but the Board decided to review the matter before making a decision regarding the bid.

There was also a report submitted by Tom Ryan of the Parks and Recreation Committee that there is approximately $15,000 left in the park project account after Phases 1 and 2 are completed. Ryan sought permission from trustees to purchase park benches, picnic tables, grills, a bike rack and roping with the remaining funds. Trustees were in agreement with the proposal.
