Charges have been filed in Cumberland County Circuit Court against the man suspected of driving through Bliss Park and the South Side School playground late Saturday night.

The incident allegedly involving 44-year-old Randall Dye originated in Cumberland County where Dye is alleged to have attempted to strike a sheriff's deputy with his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Cumberland County State's Attorney Bryan Robbins has charged Dye with felony counts of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

Dye was formally arrested Wednesday by Effingham City Police for the damage done in Effingham. Effingham city police arrested Dye on a charge of criminal damage to property valued at more than $10,000 but less than $100,000. He was in custody at last report.
