Report Released on Icy Vehicle-Ambulance Crash on Saturday

Effingham city police Tuesday released information about a crash during the freezing rainstorm during the noon hour Saturday when a vehicle struck an ambulance.

The crash happened at Henrietta and St. Anthony at 12:48pm. Police report a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Joshua Grames of St. Elmo slid on the ice-covered roadway and struck an ambulance driven by 33-year-old Sherrill Boggs of Altamont. 

A passenger in Grames' vehicle, 33-year-old Cory Bourdeaux of Effingham was injured and was transported by private vehicle to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. The ambulance was transporting a patient, however, the patient reported no additional injuries from the crash and the ambulance was able to continue to HSHS St. Anthony's as intended. Boggs was also injured and was transported in the ambulance Boggs was driving to HSHS St. Anthony's. 

Grames was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
