The Effingham City Zoning Board of Appeals granted two variances at its recent meeting.

The Board approved a variance in a front yard fence project for Robert and Kelly Willenborg. The variance permits placement of a stone fence and gate at the entrance to the Willenborgs property at 1302 Mini Hills Drive. The consensus is that the project will conserve property values.

The Willenborgs agreed to install a manhole and maintain a sanitary sewer at the location.

The Board also granted a variance for Gregory L. Koester for his property at 1104 Lynn Drive. Koester plans to construct a 1,936 square foot accessory building, which is larger than the typically permitted 1,200 square foot structure.

Board members allowed the variance since the property is located at the end of a street and a similar variance was granted for a neighboring property.
