Construction 2021

The City of Effingham issued 104 building permits during the first 10 months of 2021.

Building Official Michelle Lilley said 28 single-family residences accounted for part of that total. That included 14 new homes, as well as five additions and nine garages. One new multi-family structure was permitted, as were 14 commercial projects. That involved three new buildings and 11 remodeled facilities. One demolition was approved, and permits were issued for 60 signs or miscellaneous projects, such as swimming pools.

The total value of the construction was $36,136,748.56.

The value of the building, electric, plumbing and sewer tap fees totaled $56,908.57.

Lilley reported that, based on the previous three-year average (2018-2020), the value of construction for issued permits is up about 63% this year.
