Single Vehicle Accident Injures Two

Two people were injured in a crash in Effingham County late Tuesday night.

Effingham County Sheriff's Deputies report the crash happened at 11:13pm on Illinois Route 33, just east of 1800th Avenue in Summit Township.

Deputies say a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Lisa Kaufman of Shumway was eastbound when Kaufman lost control of the unit, which traveled across the oncoming lane and struck a culvert in the north ditch. The unit went airborne, causing it to roll over before coming to a stop on its tires.

Kaufman was injured as was a passenger 25-year-old Clinton Guffey of Casey. Both were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Kaufman was cited for improper lane usage.
