Teutopolis school board members Monday got word of the receipt of a $50,000 matching school maintenance grant.

The funds will be used for tuckpointing at J.H. Griffin Gym. The Board approved contacting Upchurch Associates Architects to begin the process of providing specs for the work, which will include the removal of the upstairs windows on the west wall.

The Teutopolis Board also approved a high school band trip to Disney for June 6-11; raised the substitute teacher pay rate to $115/day effective January 3. The Board also approved the tax levy. With increases to the equalized assessed valuation of property in the district, the district is estimating level tax rates at approximately 3.62%. Final EAV and rates will be determined and extended by the County Clerk later this year.

Teutopolis board members voted to seek bids for property/casualty/liability insurance rates; approved a bid from Alliance Tractor for a zero turn mower for $37,900 and optional pallet forks and liquid ballast for an additional $1,250. The Board also approved an updated athletic worker's compensation chart for post-season, tournaments and shootouts.

In personnel moves, the Teutopolis board approved hiring Roch Westendorf as fulltime bus driver as of January 18, 2022, Allison Deters as junior high track coach, and Antonio Munoz as 7th grade volleyball coach for the school year.
