Larry Syfert of the Heartland Cruisers Goldwing motorcycle riders stopped by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office this week with a $300 donation from the club. The Heartland Cruisers donated the money to the Shop with a Deputy Fund.

Each year, sheriff's staff members take 75 to 100 children Christmas shopping. Effingham County schools recommend students to participate in the program and they let them out of school for a few hours to participate. Sheriff's department personnel say they enjoy the program and interacting with the kids that shop with them.

Every year, stories are told how some children have to be told to buy something for themselves, because they only want to buy for their brothers and sisters and parents. The sheriff's employees want to thank those who make the program possible.
