Blaine Wilhour

State Representative Blaine Wilhour has announced he is running for re-election to the Illinois House in 2022.

The Beecher City Republican will run for election to the newly-drawn 110th House District. Due to the legislative remapping, the 110th District will now include Fayette, Bond, Marion, Clay and Richland counties. The 110th District will also include the most southern portion of Effingham County, including Mason and Edgewood. Speaking to the remapping process, Wilhour said he runs his business in Effingham County, his kids go to school in the Effingham community, and he goes to church in Effingham, but his district would no longer include the Effingham community. He said he can't believe that wasn't intentional.

Wilhour said during a stop at our studios Thursday morning that more regular working people are needed in the Illinois General Assembly. He said it's time Illinois put workers ahead of the political class by enacting spending reforms based on what taxpayers can afford and regulatory reforms to bring manufacturing back to Illinois and "ending the war on fossil fuels."

One of Wilhour's priorities will be enacting strong anti-corruption reforms. He also said he is running to push for reforms to make communities safer.

Greg Sapp spoke with Rep. Wilhour during Thursday's stop. Here's their interview...

Wilhour was raised on a family farm in rural Altamont, the fourth of six children. Growing up he helped tend to his family's small hog operation each morning before school. He is a graduate of St. Elmo High School, and served in the Illinois Army National Guard as an Intelligence Analyst. He is currently a managing partner at his family's construction company and he and his wife Amber have three children and reside on their family farm in Fayette County.
