Two COVID-Related Deaths in Effingham County This Week

The Effingham County Health Department said two COVID-related deaths were reported in the county in the past week.

The deaths were those of an individual in their 70s and an individual in their 40s. One of the individuals was vaccinated. Those deaths bring the number of confirmed COVID-related deaths in Effingham County to 103.

The Health Department also reported 81 new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease. When added to the numbers released on Monday, it brings the county's seven-day total to 106 cases, an increase of 16.5% from last week. 40 of those cases involved people under age 40.

The trend also moves the region's ICU bed availability rate down to 13%, well below the warning level of 20%.
