Fire Department Remains Busy Responding to a Car Fire

Effingham Fire Fighters responded to the corner of Fayette and 3rd at 201 East Fayette for a vehicle fire. The 1997 Buick LeSabre owned by Kennedy Utley had been parked for about 10 minutes when Effingham City Police notified Utley and the fire department that the car was on fire around 11:15 Wedenesday morning. 

Fire crews were on scene for approximately 30 minutes contain the fire to the vehicle, preventing the fire from damaging the garage and another vehicle in the vicinity.

City Police and State Police closed 3rd Street to allow firefighters to attend to the car fire which was a total loss.
