At the Effingham County Board meeting earlier this week the board did not award a contract for the sole 911 ambulance provider despite the recommendation from the board’s Ambulance Oversight Committee to award the contract to RuralMed.

The Board voted 4-2 not to award the contract at this time. Norbert Soltwedel was not in attendence and Elizabeth Huston abstained. Rob Arnold and Joe Thoele voted to award the contract while David Campbell, Doug McCain, Heather Mumma, and John Perry voted against awarding it at this time.

Abbott EMS currently serves as the county’s sole emergency ambulance provider and their contract expires at the end of April.
