An Effingham woman was sentenced to five years in prison Tuesday for manufacture or delivery of Fentanyl.

23-year-old Shyanne McCarty was arrested with another suspect in April following a traffic stop. A drug dog indicated the presence of illegal narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up several items of drug paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine, and Fentanyl. A later search at McCarty's motel room turned up additional narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

In addition to the prison time, McCarty will serve one year mandatory supervised release once out of prison, and was fined.

McCarty's co-defendant, Cody Laue of Effingham, is due in court on similar charges later this month.
