The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has elected to participate in a No Shave November cancer awareness fundraiser.

Effingham County Sheriff Paul Kuhns said through the month of November, Sheriff's Office personnel who pledge to donate $40, or $10/week, will be excused from shaving. If you see a uniformed Effingham County Deputy in need of a shave, you're encouraged to offer to donate to the cause. You can give your donation to any uniformed Effingham County Deputy or take it to the Sheriff's Office and ask that the money be directed to Lieutenant Buhnerkempe.

All of the money collected will be donated to Fear Nothing Cancer Support. Fear Nothing is a non-profit organization that provides $50,000 to $75,000 a year to local people battling cancer in Effingham, Cumberland, Shelby, Jasper, Clay and Fayette counties.

A Sheriff's Office spokesman said they are proud to partner with and support Fear Nothing and thank Jodi Waymoth for her hard work and dedication to this cause.
