(DR. DAVID GLASSMAN)

Eastern Illinois University President David Glassman has offered to stay on an additional year at the university, then plans to retire.

Dr. Glassman announced the plan during his annual State of the University speech.

Glassman's current contract expires May 31, 2022. He offered to stay as president through June of 2023 if Eastern's Board of Trustees agrees to the plan. The Board next meets on November 12.

Glassman has begun his 7th year at EIU President. He succeeded Bill Perry. He said he has plans to return to the teaching world, as a professor of anthropology.
