Mason Teenager Injured in Saturday Crash

A teenager from Mason was injured in a crash south of Watson Saturday afternoon.

18-year-old Samuel Brockett was at the T-intersection of Illinois Route 37 and the ramp to and from Interstate 57, south of Watson, waiting to turn. A pickup truck driven by 31-year-old Anthony Kruger of Newport, Tennessee, was northbound on Route 37 in the same area. Brockett entered the roadway in front of Kruger and Kruger's pickup struck Brockett's car in the driver's side.

Brockett was transported by ambulance to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Kruger refused medical attention.

Brockett was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, which happened just after 5pm Saturday.
