Three Injured in Crash East of Wheeler

Three people were injured Thursday morning in a crash east of Wheeler.

The crash happened at 10:35am on Illinois Route 33, about a half-mile of Wheeler. Illniois State Police say an eastbound cargo van driven by 61-year-old Lori Kliment of Springfield crossed over the centerline of the highway and struck a westbound car driven by 35-year-old Anthony Burke of Olney.

Both drivers were injured, as was a passenger in Kilment's van, 67-year-old Patrick Kistner of Springfield. All three were taken for treatment; Burke was airlifted from the scene.

Kliment was cited for improper lane usage.

At least one lane of Route 33 in the area of the crash was closed for more than an hour.
