Former Effingham Resident Meador Pleads Guilty to Murder in Olney

Former Effingham resident Rick Meador has pleaded guilty to a count of murder for a shooting death in Olney.

The 19-year-old Meador pleaded guilty Tuesday to the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Kyle Johnson of Olney. Johnson was found dead at the corner of Walnut and Laurel Streets in Olney on September 6, 2020. 

Meador faces between 20 and 50 years in prison, and would serve three years mandatory supervised release once out of prison. A status hearing on sentencing is set for January 27.

Meador's co-defendants Misty Whipple, Tara Haws and Dale Boatman, Jr. are still awaiting disposition of their cases.
