State Crop Report for Week Ending August 22nd

There were 6.4 days suitable for field work in Illinois during the week ending August 22.

Statewide, the average temperature was 74.9 degrees, 1.1 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.38 inches, 0.33 inches below normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 5 percent very short, 31 percent short, 56 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 9 percent very short, 27 percent short, 56 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus.

Corn dough reached 85 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 87 percent. Corn dented reached 50 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 47 percent. Corn condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 17 percent excellent.

Soybeans setting pods reached 84 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 89. Soybean condition was rated 4 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 47 percent good, and 20 percent excellent.
