Altamont school board members voted 5-2 Monday to approve an in-person learning plan for the coming school year with masks recommended, not required.

The Board had discussed the issue at their regular monthly meeting last week, then decided to hold off on a decision until Monday night's special meeting.

Altamont board members voted to increase the substitute teacher rate of pay to $110 per day. 40-day substitute pay would be $10 per day more than the daily rate, and increase long term substitute pay to Step 0 on the Altamont pay scale which, for the 21-22 school year, would be $202 per day.

The Altamont board also voted to hire Frankie Jenkins for a vacant elementary teacher position for the 21-22 school year.
