Effingham County 911 Board members at this month's meeting formalized the selection of Sheriff Paul Kuhns as vice-chairman of the Board. Kuhns succeeds County Board Vice-Chairman Dave Campbell, who was selected 911 Board Chairman to succeed Julie Stephens, whose term on the Board has ended.

The Board also voted in favor of a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder class for 911 dispatchers. The class was suggested by Effingham Police Chief Jason McFarland, as provisions are made for others involved in emergency services, but not the telecommunicators. McFarland will check for when the class can be offered, and the training will be staggered so some dispatchers can remain on duty.
