(HERE ARE THE STREETS IN EFFINGHAM TO BE INVOLVED IN THE PAVEMENT PRESERVATION PROJECT)

A pavement preservation project will begin in Effingham on Monday and will continue through the end of July.

City Engineer Luke Thoele explained that the work is designed to extend the life and performance of the affected streets.

Thoele said when the project begins, you're asked to adhere to the "Road Closed" signs, as it is imperative to refrain from driving on the asphalt sealant while it cures for 24 hours. Please don't drive on, walk on, or touch the asphalt sealant. Those who live on the affected streets will not have access to their driveways and will be required to park on the nearest side street during this time. The Pavement Preservation treatment will be scheduled around the affected residents trash collection service and will not affect mail delivery. If you require special assistance to your property, please contact the City as soon as possible at 217-342-5300 extension 5349.

Please note that the street treatment will involve two coatings with an asphalt sealant and will be closed for 24 hours. Within the next 24 hours, the contractor on the project, Denler, Inc., will hand out a more detailed final notice with an estimated date for placing the asphalt on your street. The treatment must be placed on dry pavement, so it is possible there could be delays due to weather. Residents can be kept informed on the project by Denler on their website, www.denlerinc.com
