A succession of Teutopolis village officials kept setting aside funds toward the day when a new village hall could be built without raising taxes. That day arrived last year and on Thursday, a ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new facility was held.

Many of the past and present village officials were on hand for the celebration. That extended to the two speakers at the brief ribbon cutting ceremony. Current Village President Dave Repking and his predecessor Greg Hess each spoke as the project began while Hess was still in office and has been completed under Repking.

The demolition of the old village hall and the groundbreaking for the new structure began in August of 2020. The previous hall was built in 1888.
