4th of July 2021

We have the full rundown on 4th of July activities planned in Effingham on Sunday. We have a list of other area celebrations here in Community Calendar.

The fireworks will be staged at the outdoor athletics complex at Effingham High School. The fireworks program will include a color guard on Klosterman Field at 9pm and the singing of the national anthem, then the fireworks display.

Admission to Klosterman Field will be free, as will be the parking.

In addition, this is the ninth year of the Independence Day Parking Lot Party at the Effingham Event Center, north of the fireworks display.

Danny Shelton and the Birddogs will be playing before and after the fireworks. The Effingham Knights of Columbus will have Niemerg's at the party cooking up hamburgers, porkburgers, hot dogs, steak sandwiches, walking tacos and other "picnic foods". Toppins Ice Cream will also be back along Macklin's Kettle Corn. Big Al's Shakeups is busy, but said they would try to make the party.

The playground will be available for the kids and the horseshoe pits for the adults, and room will be available for other outdoor games.

Parking is first-come, first-served and lawn areas will be reserved for chairs and blankets to watch the fireworks. Please note, the Effingham Event Center and grounds are a licensed liquor establishment. State and local laws do not allow alcohol to brought onto the premises, so please don't take alcohol onto the grounds.

All guests are asked to observe CDC recommendations to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
