The Village of Dieterich is readying for a festive 4th of July weekend.

The theme is "Dieterich Let's Celebrate".

One event will take place on Saturday, July 3, the Firecracker Walk/Run. The race will begin at 7:30am at Liberty Memorial Park.

The other events will take place on Sunday, July 4. Food vendors will begin sales at 12 noon, and a beer garden will be open from noon to 11pm in the new pavilion. A bags tournament will begin at 1pm.

The big change in this year's celebration will be the parade, which will be an evening event. Parade lineup will begin at 5pm in the Dieterich High School parking lot, then will step off at 6pm. The parade route will include Pine Street, West Virginia Street, Park Street, West Section Street, and Main Street. The change to an evening parade is an effort to beat the midday heat of year's past.

Dieterich's fireworks display will begin at 9:15pm. The celebration will conclude at 10pm at the park with the Queen of Hearts Drawing.
