The Effingham County 911 Board chose new officers at this month's meeting.

Effingham County Board Vice Chairman David Campbell was chosen the new 911 board chairman, while Sheriff Paul Kuhns was chosen vice chairman.

Campbell succeeds public member Julie Stephens, who did not seek reappointment to the board, while Kuhns replaces Campbell as vice chairman.

Jake Buhnerkempe of J&R Collision Centers, new to the Board as a public member, was elected Secretary/Treasurer.

The Board heard from City Telecommunications Supervisor Billie Bales that a grant had been obtained that will fund training for dispatchers in critical incident situations. It was also voted to purchase an anti-virus software license for three years for just under $4,800 and to spend $5,210 to acquire 70 software licenses. The licenses are for county law enforcement, fire departments, 911 System Administrator Tina Daniels and County IT Supervisor Jason Repking.

Daniels reported that the system went live with map software from Spillman, and that the transition has presented several issues. She also reported that she and Addressing Coordinator Jill Zerrusen attended a meeting for the Illinois Next Generation 911 GIS project, where the State has decided to go with a different workflow platform for submitting map layers. The map layers are to be submitted to the State by August 1.
