Dieterich Village Board members have authorized the purchase of the former First National Bank of Dieterich building.

The purchase price is $210,000, which is less than what was originally sought for the building.

Two businesses are currently operating in the building; and village board members are looking at whether additional businesses could be located there in a form of incubator business strategy. Another option is to make space available for other governmental entities, such as the township.

The transaction will be finalized at a future meeting.

Dieterich board members also discussed water meters, as well as improvements to Maple Street.

The Board also paid for storm sewer work in the East Industrial Park, and made payments on projects in Liberty Memorial Park including electrical work, fence work, and tennis courts work. Also approved was acquisition of easements for sidewalk and utility work at 201 West Section and 103 South Pine, as well as a residential housing incentive for a project at 203 East Virginia. It was also agreed to use decorative street lights in Industrial Park East for an additional $11,831.

The Village Board also passed the appropriations ordinance for the coming fiscal year.
